VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Greetings everyone! Our annual convention will be held on April 12, 2014 at the LDWF education building in Woodworth. Festivities will begin at 8:00am and will continue throughout the day. The location is the same one we have held it at for the past few years. It is easily accessible from I- 49 just take the Woodworth exit and head west. The building will be on the left. If you are coming in on 165, turn east at the red light in Woodworth and drive approximately one and a half miles and the building will be on the right. Signs should be posted. As always we will have a packed schedule with lots of demos, trapping supplies and good food. We will end the day with our annual live auction which for most is the highlight of the day. It is always exciting. Please bring any items that you have available to donate to our auction as this is our single most biggest fundraiser that we have to secure funds for the association .

We will also have fur buyers on the premises so don’t forget to bring your fur. If you are bringing it green, make sure you take it out of the freezer in enough time so that the buyer can properly inspect it. Volunteers at the convention are always welcome so do not hesitate to give us a call if this is something that you are interested in. All of the officer’s numbers are listed on our webpage at Louisianatrappers.com. We also hold our annual election of 3 board of directors. The board of directors is who elects the officers and all business of the association is generated by the board. If you are interested in being a board member, at the convention you will have the opportunity to step up and run for this position. Don’t be afraid to step up. It is the members of the association who continue to preserve the heritage of trapping in this great state and we can never do enough to keep that going. New people equal new ideas! Any member in good standing can run for a board position.

Kids are important to what we do so if you have any kids please bring them and let them bring a buddy to tag along. I assure you, some of the kids will stick with it and one day they will be the ones running this association. We are planning some events for our youth as usual so let’s set the bar this year. Last year we had 30 in attendance. That is our all-time high and getting bigger each year. Future trappers are also future voters. I hope you all have had a great season and I am looking forward to hearing your stories at the convention. Thanks for reading and may God bless you. — Wesley Blanchard, slugger145@yahoo.com
