DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Welcome from the Flathead.
THANK YOU PENNSYLVANIA !! We appreciate your financial contribution and the solidarity that it represents in our fight with the anti’s.

We have some up coming events in this area; the first is the Family Forestry Expo. on mothers day weekend where we will have a manned booth. All of the local elementary schools have classes that attend this event so we can reach a lot of young people there. We alternate years at this event and did it two years ago where it was very well received.

We will also be providing trapper education to 4 classes at a local guide school during the course of the summer. We did this last year and it was very popular with the new guides to be.

We are also still planning for a general public trapping education event this late summer or early fall, stay tuned for details.Well I have to go now to write a letter to the editor. An anti has written a truth challenged, fact lacking letter that needs to be addressed.

In reference to trapping issues, I believe there are three separate population segaments; us, anti’s and the greater number of undecided folks.

I do not believe I can convert and anti any more than I believe one of them can convert me.

Each of us, in our dailey lives, interact with individuals in the majority. The undecided. I also believe our way of life rides on their decisions and actions.
That means each of us has the opportunity, through our passion and knowledge, to educate and guide otherwise neutral parties to support our positions.

Two excellent aids to our efforts are found on the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website at Mt.Gov. They are the recently published two page TRAPPING FACTS booklet and the forty one page TRAPPING AND FURBEARER MANAGEMENT IN NORTH AMERICAN WILDLIFE CONSERVATION.

With these two publications you will be well armed with facts to educate anyone who likes to make informed decisions.

If any one does not have a computer to read these publications, please contact me at P.O. Box 786, Kalispell, MT 59903 and I will get you hard copies.

Please do your part to preserve our heritage and way of life. — Rick Hawk
