VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Greetings Fellow Trappers,
As you read this, trapping season will be upon us. Once again we had a great turnout at the Rendezvous. Special thanks to all the vendors who attended, some from far distances. To all the directors who also put a lot of their time and effort into making this a great event. This year we added to the kids events construction of weasel boxes. It was a great hit. Thanks to Jim Stewart for providing the materials, and pre-cutting the wood. Thanks to all who gave a demo.
This year we presented Paul Grimshaw an appreciation award for his dedication to the trapping community. It was well deserved. I would like to thank John Lapre for his services as acting president. Randy Barrows of Chittenden County will take over as president. He will be a great voice for the VTA. We will meet for our directors meeting for the last time at the Comfort Inn in Berlin in December. Our October meeting we are in hopes to find a new home. We will put it on our Web site or you can call me to find out. The weekend of the 19th of September was the advance trapper’s course. There were approximately 23 students.
There were many years of knowledge among the instructors. Thanks to Dave and Shawn for all their time and effort to put on a great class. In closing, I would like to encourage anyone to get involved in the VTA. We need new blood and ideas. If you could commit to one hour of your time at one of our events, fairs, rendezvous ext. that would be huge. We have a strong and dedicated association and let’s keep it going.
Also, a big thanks to my wife Deb. She will admit she doesn’t know one trap from another, but we work great as a team. I am blessed to have a partner who supports us in what we believe in.
Please be safe trapping and get a kid involved. God Bless. — Joe Epler
