PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Sending out just a short note this month. It’s a busy time of the year in the fur business.
But the WTA is kind of quiet at the present time. Not much going on, that is. And that’s kind of good for a change.
A fair amount of trappers have told me that they’ve had a great trapping year so far. Coon catches in most areas are up and the rat catch is also doing quite well. That along with a higher population of wild mink and stronger fur prices should make for a successful season for most trappers.
I had a chance to do some deer hunting and saw very few bucks. I’ve heard hunters complaining about the lack of deer out there and especially in the areas with a wolf population. Hope that this can be corrected soon.
I enjoyed a good Thanksgiving with the family and hope that you did as well. Now it is back to work, for the busy season of the year is here for us. Have a blessed Christmas and don’t forget the January BOD Meeting.
— Virgil Schroeder
