PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Greetings,

By the time you are reading this trapping and hunting seasons will be in full swing in western SD.

If you didn’t make the fall convention you missed a good time. The New Underwood Community Center really works great for us. The attendance was good we had a good selection of vendors.

I want to thank everyone who helped. It takes a lot of work to put these meetings together. Also I want to thank the members who did a fantastic job with the demo’s.

I want to thank outgoing director Jerry Spencer for his support and I am sure we can count on him to help us again.

Congratulations to new board member Wayne Helmick. Wayne is retired from the Air Force and traps in the Black Hills. He is also associated with “Freedom Hunters” which helps disabled hunters.

Long time director Larry Rossum was re-elected. Thank you Larry for your dedication to WSDFHA.

Director Shoun Simons (Bummer) was re-elected for his second term. Thanks for your help Bummer.

Tuffy halls was re-elected for another term as Sec/treasurer. Tuff does a great job.

We had several raffles to help raise money. We gave away lots of trapping and hunting related stuff on our famous “Grubb Stake Raffle”. In addition to the grubstake raffle Brett Heath won the Shenee boots, Tom Robertson won the Dunn Knife and Ken Lindskov won the engraved Henry Golden boy rifle.

We also announced the recipient of the “Paul Haivala Memorial Scholarship” for this year. We will present Miss Keely Thompson of New Underwood with a $400 check from WSDFHA. Keely is attending SDSU working on a veterinary major and an ag science minor. Congratulations to Keely, we wish her the best.

In 2015 WSDFHA will have our 30th anniversary. Our officers and directors will be working on a special event to celebrate this milestone. I will let you know when more info is available.

Hope you have a good harvest and a safe season. — Larry Bowden
