SECRETARY’S REPORT

Summer is winding down and today there is a feeling of fall in the air. Maybe because it just isn’t so hot as it has been. By the time that you read this report, the convention will be over. As of right now it promises to be a fun and exciting convention.

There has been a lot of work done in order to make it a success, we hope that you have a good time. Summer is usually a slow time for trappers. The officers have attended the RAC meetings and have voiced our concerns as well as support for certain issues pertaining to trapping. I attended my first RAC meeting with my dad. Like most meetings it was long and hot.

I didn’t realize how many people that my dad knew. It seems like we spent half of the night talking to DWR officials. While he rekindled old friendships he introduced me to several of them. They seemed like good people and they were willing to help our association as well as trappers. I am glad that I was able to attend, and glad that dad knew so many people. I just hope that I can remember all of their names.

If you are not receiving your mailings, please let me know. I can’t attempt to fix it if I don’t know that it is broke. Also, if you move, let me know your new address so that I can change it so that your mailings won’t be delayed.

Before I leave I have to tell you something that happened to me. The other day I was working in the garage and somehow knocked a bottle of my dads lure on the floor. I didn’t know what it was for sure, however I later learned that it was a four oz. Bottle of canine call.

Talk about stink! I tried my best to clean it up but there was no escape, the odor was there to stay. I waited for my dad to come home, wondering how mad he was going to be. He told me later that as soon as he pulled in from work he could smell it. He didn’t even get mad, he said that it smelled like the convention’ and that is a good smell.

Until next time.
