PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello from Southern Oklahoma
Hello to all OFBA members as well as all trappers in Oklahoma who do not belong to the OFBA. To keep trapping strong in Oklahoma and nationwide all trappers should belong to their state organization as well as the NTA. They will be there to help when we need them.
I hope everyone has all their equipment ready. The season is fast approaching for the few trappers we have that go out of state to start their season.
By the time you receive this the election will be over. The results will be posted on the website. We have mostly new directors with better and new ideas to strengthen the OFBA and move forward instead of being stuck in a rut.
I have heard that a few small groups are wanting to branch out on their own because they are not happy with the way things are going. I don’t blame them, but we all need to stick together. I have worked hard for the last several years trying to get all trappers pulling together. With the new directors we have a chance to get this done, as trappers if we stand together we can accomplish more than being divided. For those who are unhappy get in contact with me and I will try to keep all happy and resolve the problems. All the things I have presented in the last two years have been at the request of the members. My own mission as President has been to make the OFBA as strong and family orientated as possible for all trappers in Oklahoma.
Remember the youth camp will be Dec.20-21-22,2013 at Glenda Walls place again north of Verden. The limit is 30 youth ,so contact Shannon Sheffert at 405-742-7884 to register.
There will be two fur sales again this year, the first at Chandler on Feb 1,2014 and the second at Okemah March1,2014.
We will be having a membership drive from Oct 15,2013 until the spring meeting in April 2014 with the person who signs up the most members getting 12 Montgomery Step- IN traps from Wayne Smith’s estate.
Have a good and safe trapping season and take a youth with you as you both will enjoy it.
