PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello fellow NC trappers, I hope that this report finds you doing well. As I write this report, our season is about to start here in the east. My truck is loaded and I will be on the river at daybreak. I hope that your seasons are going well and you are checking full traps and working late in the fur shed. There has been a lot of speculation about the fur market lately and it set me to thinking about the reasons that I trap.I have and would trap even if the fur wasn’t selling well. Don’t get me wrong, I like to make money when I trap, but I trap for many reasons. The fun of checking traps never has faded in my eyes. There is the conservation aspect of it when we are doing predator control and trapping reminds me of our heritage and how the fur trade helped open and explore our continent. At any rate, fur prices are going to be what they are and we just need to trap and let the market run it’s course.
At our BOD meeting on November 3rd, we discussed our magazine and whether or not to change over to the Trappers Post. I need your input on this subject before we make a decision. So, should we keep the Trapper & Predator Caller or switch to the Trappers Post. We will put a poll on our website for those of you who use our talk forum. You can also email me at “carolinawoodsman65@yahoo.com”.
Thats about all that I have for now, I wish you all success and happiness in the new year. — Tony W. White
