PRESIDENT’S REPORT

NJFH Members,

Very sad news coming from me this month, Marty Scanlon passed away very unexpectedly Oct. 26. Marty was president of the New Jersey Trappers Association, President of the Union County Federation of Sportsmen and the NTA rep for the NJTA. Marty was obviously very involved with sportsmen and trappers in the state. I spent a lot of time with Marty when he came down with Mike Herman and went muskrat trapping. We had a lot of laughs and good times. Marty will certainly be missed in the trapping community and of course all of his friends and family. I will also miss all reports which always ended “yours in trapping” — Marty. You will be missed!

On a better note, we had our trapper’s course and all went well. Many critters were caught and all the students passed. We had a new member (Dan Wolff) help us out and he did a great job! Thanks to all the other officers that also help make this a fun and educational course.

I’m keeping this report short, but I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.

Be safe trapping and have fun.

— Curt Haberman
