PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello Everyone.
Spring is here; the Spring Meeting has come and gone. I was somewhat disappointed with the turnout, but it was certainly good to see everyone that did attend. Most I hadn’t seen since the Fall Convention. John Self had a nice facility and a great luncheon!
Sam Wilson gave an Otter update presentation, a couple other items of interest and fielded questions. Dave Hastings had a copy to video cast of FTA’s Outdoor Channel Spot. It was brought up about problems caused by the “10 days to hold raw fur after the end of season” rule. Especially in light of the economic frugality of the times where some conservation officer positions are unfilled and causing the remaining ones to cover more area.
A motion was made and passed to have Dave Hastings draft a letter to Game & Parks requesting a changed to allow anyone with a valid Fur Harvester’s license to hold raw fur for 12 months, and give reason for the change.
Since I received this draft, I sent a copy to Sam Wilson and to Rex Amack. Doug Eskew was present and gave a report on what has been done so far on the Fall Convention and asked for anyone with ideas or to help, to contact him. It sounds like he has a good one going. Also, we still can use a bid for 2011 convention. Have a great spring and summer. — Don Miller
