VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
First, the fur labeling bill is dead. Thank you to all that helped. The Montgomery County bill HB 831 is still alive; we still need help with this bill. It would stop all recreational trapping in Montgomery County. You would have to hire a professional wildlife controller to trap. Please call or write to appose HB 831.

Well, trapping season is coming to an end and convention season is getting ready to start. Hope to go to all I can.
Sounds like we are going to have some good ones this year.
Take a kid hunting, fishing and trapping and join your state and national associations.

DISTRICT 8 REPORT
The February meeting went well with seven members present. A write up of the January meeting were sent in to T&PC last month but never published. I do not know why.
We were very fortunate to have 11-year-old Mark Blazejack attend his second meeting with us. Junior member are hard to come by, so we welcome him with open arms.
Congratulations go out to Donald Moore for passing the 100 mark on red foxes this year. Donald is a hardcore trapper who stays with it day after day, regardless of fur prices. Way to go Donald.
Apologies go out from me to Ron Leggett. Several of my District 8 write ups have been published as President reports, even though they were sent in clearly marked as Dist 8 Reports. It was not my doing.
Member traplines were discussed along with fur prices. Trapping conditions have not been favorable for our area this year. The tides and the weather sometimes work for us and sometimes not.
The Maryland anti-trapping bill was talked about along with fur buyers and the current recession. All attending members report rat meat sales as going well, although ’coon and beaver meat sales are slow.
The minutes of the last Directors Meeting were read and discussed. We may have found a real good central meeting place where we met at Kent Island.
Trapping will be over by the time this report comes out. District 8 will have our final meeting for this winter during March. Come join us.
District 8 meets the fourth Tuesday during trapping season. We start at 7 p.m. at the home of Bob Calloway at 14313 Cherry Lane, near Tuckahoe State Park, between Ridgely and Centreville. Call Bob at 410-634-2501 for further directions.
