DISTRICT 2 REPORT

As I write this, the nine-day regular gun season is over and I hope most of you had better luck than I did. Not sure if I will make the black powder hunt or not.

I did get up north for a week to try and help some old guy with a bobcat and fisher tag that he had but not much luck with that either. Maybe I need to take up knitting or something of that order instead.
A lot of things going on in my world so this will be short.

I am looking at a district meeting sometime towards the end of January. If anyone has ideas on where and when you would like to have this, please let me know and something can be worked out. It can be good to move things around and maybe get some new people involved with the district. Items to discuss will be the spring banquet, summer rendezvous and other items. Please bring ideas and any other concerns you might have with anything pertaining to the WTA or the district.

There will be a BOD meeting coming up in January and all are welcome to attend. Let me know if feel inclined to do so and maybe we can ride together.

Take care and trap smart.

DISTRICT 5 REPORT

The trapping season is moving right along. Our winter meeting will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at the Fur Shed in Trempealeau. The address is W22051 Wagner Rd. Take Hwy K north out of Trempealeau a couple miles to Wagner Rd. The meeting will start at 1 p.m. We will have election of officers this year. If anyone is interested in running for office contact our nominating committee chairman, Chuck Glowcheski at 608-534-6028 or call me at 608-323-7422.

One important event for discussion this year will be our summer Rendezvous. Lunch and refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Good luck on your trapline and see you at the meeting in January. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

DISTRICT 10 REPORT

District 10 chose dates for our winter and summer rendezvous at our summer meeting. We will have our winter meeting at NAFA, in Stoughton, on March 7, 2009. Greg Schroeder will show us grading on a few species of furbearers. This has been a very popular portion of the meeting the last two years and I can’t thank Greg enough. We can no longer hold advertised raffles for our district meetings, but we can have a raffle the day of the meeting. This will up the odds for those of you that attend, so make sure to be there. We will also have some door prizes and welcome any that you may wish to donate. Kirk Upperman volunteered to make fish fry for lunch for us. So, mark the date on your calendar and don’t miss this one. It is a good time.

We will be looking for a location around Milton for our summer rendezvous. Members want to move the summer rendezvous around the district, so all have a chance to attend meetings that are close to their home. I will update you as we find a spot. The date that was chosen was Aug. 22, 2009. We will again have a full sweet of demonstrations. With the talent in our district and of those that attend our rendezvous, I think our demos are as good as any I have seen.

Our district is holding a 50:50 ’coon raffle at NAFA this fall. We encourage each trapper in the district to donate at least one ’coon to the raffle. Just drop the ’coon off at NAFA and specify that you want it donated to the District 10, 50:50 ’coon raffle. Proceeds will be split between the district and a drawing will be held to select the lucky trapper that will take home the other 50 percent of the proceeds. It is a fun raffle and will allow our district to do more good things for trapping in Wisconsin. We are allowed to hold this raffle this year, as we had already announced it. The drawing will be at our summer meeting.

Most of you will be finished trapping by the time you read this piece, so I hope you had a fun and fruitful season and that the Holidays were good for you and your families. See you at the District 10 Rendezvous on March 7, in Stoughton.
