MEDIA COMMITTEE REPORT
The WVTA held their annual convention September 19-20, 2014 at the Gilmer County Recreation Center in Glenville, WV. Convention Trap Tags were given to the first 500 people through the gate. Approximately 900 people attended. We had more vendors this year than we have ever had with the Main building, barn at the demo area, and tailgate area were all full. Most vendors said they did very well and expressed a desire to return to the convention again next year.
Friday evening was the Board Of Directors Meeting. Scott Schimmel made a motion and got it passed that any member that their dues were paid in full and in good standing at the closing time of the convention, would get a one year free membership excluding the magazine.
Saturday morning was the Trappers Education Classes and it was well attended. Many vendors donate traps, lure, and other supplies to the students of the classes and donations also go towards serving lunch to those in the classes as well.
Many donations were received for the fundraiser auction which goes to the Trappers Education or General Association Fund.
Certificates were given to all the students who attended the Trappers Education Classes at the Education Class Graduation. At the awards Ceremony during the General Meeting on Saturday afternoon, two men were inducted in the Hall Of Fame this year; Bill Summers and Dean Byrd. There were many other trapper awards given out as well.
All the demos was well attended and went very well.
At the end of the general meeting, the fur committee gave our President, Janet Hodge, a gun for all the hard work she does for our association. — Glenda Schimmel
