ASSOCIATION NEWS
The WVTA held their annual Spring Rendezvous and Fur Auction March 5-7, 2010 at the Gilmer County Recreation Center in Glenville, WV. We had a real good fur/root sale this year with the total sale being $63,355.09 and Green Fur Total $2,495.00. For individual fur prices, you can log onto www.wvtrappers.com This sale totals were much higher than our January 2010 fur/root auction. January total sale was $2,531.39 which was due partly to trappers being discouraged by low fur prices and bad weather. The wildlife populations have been influenced by poor mast production and disease.

Rich Rogers, DNR furbearer biologist is continuing his work on establishing an otter trapping season for WV. Rich along with Geriann Albers, WVU graduate student in Natural Resources, wish to thank all of you who have contributed samples to the food habits study on Coyotes by saving coyote heads and stomachs for them. The heads determine the coyotes age and the stomach provides diet information.
