PRESIDENT’S REPORT

I came home from Oregon just in time to get busier then a bee with legislative matters. By the time you read this, everything I say will be outdated so I won’t go into it. You should have received a synopsis of our situation in the newsletter. We do have a bill that we are pinning our hopes on. It is not what we had hoped for, but it is the best we are going to be able to get. This might be our last chance to get changes in the trapping laws to fix the damage done by I-713 so we will have to settle.

As you remember, I reported that I had submitted a bill to our supportive legislators for consideration. The governor’s office pretty well butchered it so it was not introduced. The original would have been vetoed.
I hope you made it to the fur sale and had a good time. Next event is the Spring Business meeting to be held in May. More about that next month but very important to attend. Catch you next month when I have more to report.

— Bruce Vandervort
