SECRETARY’S REPORT
Summer is in full swing right now and so is the rainy weather. The last letter that I had wrote mentioned all the dry weather we have been having. Famous last words. It looked like a dry summer but it is now turning out to be considerable wetter than what the Farmer’s Almanac had predicted. Penny and I went to Autrain for a couple of weeks and on the way over we noticed the dry creeks and streams but with all the rain while we were there the same streams were flooded on our way back. We went downstate for about a week and while we were there we got to go to a baseball game with our son, Aaron. It was a great time and also a good game but the home team lost.
Not much going on lately. The only thing that is on the agenda is the conventions that are coming up. The National will be at the Marshfield fairgrounds August 5th to the 8th. The Michigan Trapper’s & Predator Callers Association will be having their convention at the fairgrounds in Evart on August 26-28. I want to thank Tammy Lundborg for letting me know when the MTPCA convention was because it has not been posted anywhere.
Remember that our convention will be at the Chippewa County fairgrounds in Kinross, September 17th to the 18th. There will be plenty of demos and drawing prizes to be given away. There will also be plenty of camping spots and lots of trees to camp under. There will be water and electric or primitive camping available.
Our next meeting will be at the Northland Sportsman Club in Gaylord on July 21st. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m.
We will be having our Adopt-A-Highway pickup on July 14th. We will meet at the gas station at the intersection of I75 and M80 in Kinross at 6:30 p.m.
Ken Mills put on a demo for the school kids in Rudyard. He mostly talks about the animals and the wetlands.
There was a trapper’s education course put on in Alpena by Rich Stowe. There were 8 students and 7 of them were new trappers.
We have a new lifetime member, John Wahlers. Thanks for your confidence in the organization like I said before not much going on so I’ll be saying so long for now.
