REPORT
The NH Trappers Association does not meet during the month of November so there are not a lot of new topics of discussion ahead of the December meeting. Hopefully you have all had an opportunity to get out into the field and bring some fur back to the shed.
The January 2014 monthly director’s meeting will not be held on the first Tuesday this month, it will be held at the conclusion of the fur sale on, Saturday, January 18th at the Belknap County Sportsmen’s Club.
The annual NH Trappers Association Fur Sale will be held Saturday, January 18th, 2014. The fur sale will be held this year again at the Belknap County Sportsmen’s Club in Gilford on Lilly Pond Rd (Rt11C). Doors open at 7 am. The auctioneer will receive lots as they come in and separate them into a few groups so the buyers will have a chance to view each individual lot. The early lots will be auctioned at 9 am and lots arriving later will be viewed and auctioned in a second round. We hope to have them all offered and cleaned up by noon. Don’t be late! There is a 4% fee for members and a 10% fee for non-members selling furs. This fee will be waived if a fisher skin is donated. If you choose to not sell your fur, there is no fee. Our membership director will be on hand if you would like to join the day of the event and save yourself the 6% difference.
Fisher season starts, here in NH, December first. Keep the association in mind, as we are in need of about 30 donated fisher skins each year to keep our commitment to provide a jacket to the newly crowned Miss NH.
NHTA will take part again this year in the Farm & Forest Expo in Manchester, NH, at the Radisson (“Center of NH”) February 7th and 8th 2014. This year the association will try again to assemble a beaver dam/lodge replica as an exhibit. Director Brian Denutte has offered to coordinate this event (603-267-6947). Volunteers are needed to assist in the assembly, disassembly, and to man the booth.
The annual fund-raising banquet will be held at Alan’s Restaurant in Boscawen, NH, February 22nd, 2014. Doors will open at 5pm for a social hour and the meal will be ready at 6 pm. We are asking for donations for auction items. Vice President Larry Torr has taken the lead again this year. You can leave a message for him at 603-742-7554 or you can speak with any director about items for donation or if you would like to assist with the events of the evening.
Best to all. — Paul DeBow, Grafton County Director
