PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello everyone. I hope that everyone’s season is going well and that you have plenty of beaver and rats to trap as the other seasons wind down. I am writing this on January 30; time certainly goes by quickly.
The Spring meeting will be held April 14 in the 4-H Building at the Custer County Fairgrounds; same place as last year. For those who did not make it last year, it is a brick building, just after you come through the gate.
This is a business meeting with reports and issues for the membership. Sam Wilson, non-game biologist for Game and Parks, usually has preliminary reports, bobcats and otters along with other information. Eric Stane along with Wynn Hall will be on hand to speak about the upcoming Fall Convention—which will be number 40! As of now, no one has expressed an interest in hosting the convention for 2014. Come on, it’s not too early to get some information together and make a proposal.
On February 4th, myself, Joe Jack, and Jim Cronin will be heading down to Lincoln for the Nebraska Council of Sportsmen’s Clubs meeting and wild game feed with the legislators. Stephen Vantassel and Scott Lickteig also plan to attend.
This is kind of an important deal as it is made up of a diverse mix of all outdoors men’s clubs and a chance to meet your legislator and to eat lunch with them. The meal, by the way, is buffet and is excellent! The same ones usually attend, but we could certainly have more. If anyone would be interested, contact me or one of the other I mentioned. This is an annual event and I would certainly get notice to you for next year.
See you in Broken Bow on April 14. — Don Miller
