DIRECTOR’S REPORT
MFH and MTA had a combined spring meeting this year with a good turnout, on April 6th. Thank you to everyone that attended. I would especially like to thank Tim their and Jim Williams from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Department. A good discussion took place on Montana’s bobcat, otter, and marten totals. Thank You, Tim.
With prices high this year, I hope that those of you that were able to get out and do some trapping – did. Thanks to a 15 year old, I was able to go out a few days. I had a wonderful time, and love to listen to him tell me about his trap line in Dillon. I believe we need to continue to teach our replacements how to carry on our family traditions, values and morals.
Montana had a couple of great trappers past away, Robert Howard and Glen Hansen – rest in peace, you’ll be greatly missed.
MFH also had some changes in Board of Directors. I would like to welcome Steve Horvath of Kalispell have a board of director and Dave Pierce of Kalispell as a sub-director and a voice for the hounds’ man.
MFH had a booth at the Great Rockies Sportsman’s Show in February and will have one at the Family Forestry Expo in May. The Sportsman’s Show was a three day event and lots and lots of people turned out, I’m not sure the exact total – just know I talked with a lot of people. I’m looking forward to the show in May, with 1400 5th graders attending the weeklong event and a family day on Saturday. We also have our fall family picnic, August 24 at Lawrence Park. Bring the family, a side dish, and stories to tell. Food, games, others with like interests gathered for a day of fun! See you in August! — Tressa L. Schutter
