SECRETARY’S REPORT
On National Hunt & Fish Day (Sept. 26), we had three LTAHA booths set up around the state. Ronnie and Terri Guy, Les Wesson, Clint Perkins, Steve Hardy and Belinda Pollard worked the booth at Woodworth. Curtis and Brenda Cruse and Don Aycock worked the booth at Monroe. Wesley Blanchard, Wes Blanchard and John Linzay worked the booth at Baton Rouge. There were over 6,500 people that attended these three sites.
We were able to talk with a lot of people, mostly kids, about trapping and alligator hunting. It still surprises me that most of the adults I talked with didn’t realize anyone still trapped. So I would like to thank everyone that helped out at these booths for letting people know that we still trap. If we don’t continue to let people know that trappers still exist, then eventually no one will.
The 2009 new member drive went well. There were 19 new members signed up. Ronnie Guy signed up the most (10) and won the $50 trapping supply gift certificate. Thanks to everyone who signed up new members.
I plan on mailing out a trapping pamphlet, annual financial report, fur buyer list and member list to all members by the beginning of trapping season (Nov. 20). If you don’t want your name, address or phone number mailed out, or if you are going to buy fur this season, please let me know. Tony Howard has our Web site up and running. The Web address is: www.louisianatrappers.com.
