SECRETARY’S REPORT
The 3rd quarter meeting of District 16 was held Sept. 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the John Borror residence. A fish fry with all the trimmings was enjoyed by all. The fish was furnished by John Borror and friend by Marcus Leck. After the meal, John called the meeting to order. He announced that we had lost 2 district members since the last meeting. Loren Collins and Alfred Beard. Our condolences go out to the affected families. Loren Collins was a Charter Member of the KFHA. A discussion was held about donating a rifle in his name to be raffled off at the State Convention, with a 50-0 split of the revenue between the KFHA and the NTA. Jim Powell made a motion and it was seconded by Jr. Smith that we do so and the motion carried.
It was announced that the State Fair was going on and volunteers are needed to help work the booth.
Also the Wilson County Old Iron Club Days will be held the last weekend on September and we are expecting around 800 school kids, John ask for help at the Booth.

Wonderful weather helped make the afternoon meeting enjoyable for the approximately 150 who where in attendance. Demos were given by Amos Smith, W.R. Breckheisen, Jim Powell and Ed Fink. Thanks go out to these individuals for sharing with us. There were several people set up for tailgating and a brisk business was going on.
Jeb Hollingshead with Okie Trap Supply drove over 5 hours to supply us as a source of last-minute trapping supplies. Thanks Jeb.
The skillet toss was won by Megan Vaughn, with a throw of 61’ 4 ¾”. Her prize was a small decorative pack basket.

After the meal a short meeting was held. I reported that approximately 1,200 kids went through our booth at the Wilson County Old Iron Days held at Fredonia. Charlie Williams came down on Thursday and helped with the booth. Discussed the success of the State Convention and the swell job District 3 did in hosting it. The booth at the Kansas State Fair was also discussed.
NTA Director Russ Voelker gave us an update on goings on at the national level.
Reminded everyone that next year is election year for all state offices. I am Election Chairman and will begin taking nominations after the first of the year. Nominations must be in written for and you must talk to the individual you are nominating to be sure they will serve if elected.
Announced that $820 was made at the state convention on the Rifle that we raffled off in the name of Loren Collins. The money was split between the KFHA and NTA. The rifle was won by our own Charlie Williams.
Jerry Danniels donated back to the District a hand carved stretcher board to be displayed at our meetings.
After the meeting many very nice door prizes were given away to all in attendance.
1 addition to District 16 all KFHA members in all surrounding Districts were sent an invitation to attend our meeting. Many members from these districts and other visitors were in attendance and helped make our day a success and are always welcome.
Our next meeting will be in February and will be our wild game feed.

I am trying to find a mailing address for Jim Powell. He won third place in the Senior Speed Setting Contest at the NTA in Marshfield, Wisconsin in 2010. I have his plaque, but don’t have an address. All I know is that he is from Kansas. If anyone can let him know I’m looking for his address, he can call me at 715-341-5708 or 715-570-2737 and we’ll make arrangements to get it to him.
Thanks!
