EDITOR’S REPORT

Our Spring Board of Directors meeting was held May 3rd at Whole Hog Cafe in Little Rock. Most of the Board members were there, and we got several business matters taken care of. The following is from my notes taken at the meeting:

Mike Fischer is still working on pamphlets. (We decided at our February meeting to see about having some tri-fold pamphlets printed with ATA info to hand out at events and distribute to Nature Centers and similar places around the State.)

By-Laws amended by Board to be voted on for approval at General Membership Meeting at Petit Jean. (The Board went through the current by-laws and brought them up to date with several amendments. We will go over them with the membership at the Fall Convention and vote on them there.)

Charlie Bass is our Fall Convention coordinator.

Aaron Hitchcock is our Trapper Education Workshop coordinator.

Doug Henderson is our Fur Sale coordinator.

The Awards Committee is now made up of the President, Vice President, and Sterlen Kirschman. (Everyone needs to get their nominations for Trapper of the Year and Mr. and Mrs. Trapper to one of these committee members ASAP!)

We voted to order some long sleeve ATA shirts for this Fall.

We voted to send Lynn Black a receipt for two donated spotted skunks for our fur displays. (Thanks, Lynn!!!)

We voted to let the membership vote on whether or not to keep the computer program we’re currently using at the Fur Sale. ( That vote will take place at the Fall Convention.)

We voted to send Steve “Wildman” Wilson a letter of appreciation for the trapping episode he aired on his program.

Dub Shankle informed us that everything is on track for a good show at the NTA SE Regional Convention in October.

We voted to donate $200.00 to the Salvation Army for tornado victims from the storms that passed through Arkansas just days before our Board meeting.

Don’t forget about our Fall convention at Petit Jean September 12th and 13th. I had all the reservation info in the last issue and I’ll have all of the convention info in the next issue. You can also find the information on our website at arkansastrappers.org. Hope to see everyone there! — Gary Helms
