PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Autumn is upon us. Big game seasons will be in full swing by the time you read this. And trapping and predator calling will be on most of your minds. I know I am already ate up with the bug. Talk of the fur markets are looking good and our dollar value is still weak, which is always good news for fur harvesters.

As most of you are aware. I was railroaded into the President position, and I am slowly learning what it entails. Thanks to Opal Watts for being our President for as long as she did. Officers and members need to take the time to thank her for what she did. As your President now, I ask that you all bear with me until I get a handle on the realm of this position. We are still lacking one position that was not filled at the fall rendezvous. We are still looking for a Raffle Manager, if you are interested, please contact myself or Marv Miller and we will help you get set up. The Raffle generates good money, and I would really hate to see it go the way side. Also, if anyone knows someone who would be willing to update our Web site, there help would be much appreciated. At fall rendezvous after I was elected. I had appointed Opal as our Public Relations Director and our liaison between the Colorado Division Of Wildlife and the Wildlife Commission. I have sent letters to both
Tom Remington and Commissioner Robert Bray and they are aware of that now.

Best of luck in your big game hunting endeavors. I envy you all who drew tags as I wasn’t fortunate enough to get any myself. I might add, if you need to contact me or just want to visit, I can be reached at 970-268-5554 or e-mail at latham@gvii.net. See ya on the trapline. — Otis Latham

PUBLIC RELATION’S REPORT

It was a good rendezvous. The road was a challenge, but all of us seemed to survive. Glad to see the good attendance and the weather cooperated for the most part.

Otis Latham is the new President, Don Clifford the NE Director, Kevin Hermann is the new SW Director and Gary Crawford is staying as Metro Director. I was asked to stay on as the DOW liason and agreed also to be Public Relations.
It has been my pleasure to serve all of you as President of the CTA for the past four years and I’ll be glad to help with any questions or problems concerning Public Relations or DOW. I can be reached at my home phone (303) 569-2953 or my cell phone (303) 263-7396.
Sept. 11, I attended the DOW workshop in Steamboat Springs. Glad to see Chris Jurney there. The new five-year game management plan took a lot of time.

I would ask all of you to be well informed on amendment 58 and vote on this. It is very important to all of us.
I am sending the DOW schedule to the Directors and it would be great to see attendance at the meetings. — Opal Watts
