PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Last month we were getting ready to attend the NTA Convention in Owatonna, MN. We had a good time in Minnesota. The convention was really great and they had a fantastic crowd of people and many, many vendors. Hats off to the Minnesota Trappers Association.
We are now getting ready for the Fall Rendezvous in Marshfield which will be history by the time you get this. I am looking forward to some really good days and meetings up there.
I just got the word that the trapping season on wolves is still on the agenda. A judge has halted the use of dogs in hunting, however. So for you trappers that are fortunate enough to get a permit, good luck!
Trapping season is coming fast as I write this. Although I hate to see the summer end and the warm weather change to nippy mornings, I enjoy Fall and the anticipation of trapping season on the calendar. The rendezvous is always a good place to finish up on supplies and that one more trap that I “need”.
The Horicon National Wildlife Refuge will be auctioning off muskrat units on October 10 beginning at 5:00pm. If you’re interested contact Diane Kitchen, at Horicon for more information. The WTA will be donating toward a light lunch.
So long for now. Hoping for another great season and good prices! — Virgil Schroeder
DISTRICT 9 REPORT
By the time this is published, the WTA Rendezvous will be over, so I hope you all had a chance to attend and have a great time. I would like to thank Denny Knuth for heading up our District 9 duties, which included cooking and serving vendor lunches and helping out with bartending duties. I would also like to thank everyone who helped out with those efforts and everyone who helped me with the Trapperman Feed as well. Thanks to all of you!
Time to start getting organized and ready for the upcoming trapping season! — Patrice Rhodes, District 9 Director
