PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello everyone,

I hope you all are having a great trapping season, and hope the weather is cooperating with you. Our 3 fur sales are just around the corner, with our first one in Crossville Tn on Jan 22nd at the Cumberland County Complex not too far off. I hope I can make it, with my wife and I having our first baby and the date being so close to our due date, it will be close. I will be there if at all possible. The second fur sale is in South Pittsburgh on Jan 29th . This fur sale will be held at the Old Armory. The 3rd fur sale will be in Bulls Gap on Mar 5th at the VFW Building.
The sale in South Pittsburgh, will be a Tri State endeavor, with Georgia and Alabama being involved. We have high hopes that this fur sale will be a bid success.

Once again, in regards to your fur, you have the right to no sale your fur at our fur sales if you are not happy with the price offered. Remember the best way to maximize your fur check is to make sure your fur is properly handled and displayed. Whether it is “dry” or “green” make sure it is clean, brushed and not wet or bloody, this will definitely help you in getting top dollar for your fur. And, speaking of top dollar, TFHA will handing out Rocky Top Awards again this year for members fur. For those not aware of the program, at the end of each fur sale I will examine all fur tickets and the THFA Member with the highest price paid for each fur species will receive a Rocky Top Award certificate and the TFHA Member with the highest price paid for each species for all Fur Sales combined will receive a Rocky Top Award Hat. This incentive program is a win win for everyone involved, you and the fur buyer. So if you have the time and resources to put your fur up, it will help in the long run.

To all Directors and members, if you are able to make it to the fur sales, even if you are not bringing fur to sale, we will greatly appreciate the help; especially myself with me not being able to attend most of them this winter due to family conflicts and timing. It is difficult getting the fur sales to run smoothly and as efficiently as possible without as much help as we can get. We are always needing help moving tables, writing fur receipts, cleaning and helping the fur buyers move fur around. The more help we have the easier it is for everyone. Thanks for all the work and effort you all put into the TFHA. As it has been said many times and will be said more in the future I am sure, it is because of you all that make TFHA as great as it is.
Hope all you trappers are having a blast and piling up the fur, and to the wonderful ladies that put up with us during the season, Thank You. Be safe out there and if anyone needs to get in touch with me, I can be reached at 731 614-2531.

— James Lord

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

With trapping season in fullswing, I hope everyone is having a great season. I’d like to thank Scott Rainbolt for putting on a trappers meeting in Newport. Also thanks to Frank Crum, Earl Barnes and Stan Myers for all their help at the meet. Thanks to High Noon Lures for bringing all the good smelling stuff.

The Fur sales are right around the corner, if you can help out please let James ,myself, or Wendell know we need all the help we can get. Stan Myers has made a contact that buys skulls and has offered to be the middle man for anyone willing to donate their skulls for the trailer fund. For those of you who don’t know what that fund is, at Fall Creek Falls the membership agreed to start a fund for a trailer to convert into a moble T.H.A. Hall of Fame. This would be a good way to preserve the history of T.F.H.A. and its members. Don’t forget to bring your best fur to the sales and get your chance to win the Rocky Top Award.

Also remember the donation table. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. See you at the fur sales.

— John Daniel
