YOUTH EDUCATION COORDINATOR’S REPORT
Hello all,
I want to start by saying thank you to all who attended the fall convention in Flandreau. I believe the youth who attended had a good time and hopefully learned something. I said it at the convention but would like to reiterate. Thank you to all of the parents or others who brought the kids to the convention.
Without you, they would never have the chance to be able to carry on the tradition of trapping. I would also like to thank a few people who stepped up and helped out with keeping the youth busy at the convention. Todd Martell and his daughter Chloe stepped up big time by running the kids games in the afternoon. Anna and Donald Hermanson also had a hand in kids games by taking care of the BB gun shoot. Anna also helped with the building of the weasel boxes along with Richard Hoops.
The more activities we can have for the kids, the better their convention experience will be, and maybe they will come back again and again. They are the future of trapping and it is our job to keep them interested. Also a thank you has to go out to Dave Hermanson for donating the Victor ’rat traps and to Bud Hart for donating some lumber to build the boxes. To all of you mentioned and to those who I have missed, your efforts didn’t go unnoticed and were very much appreciated.
Thank you.
— Aaron Doyscher
