Pennsylvania Trapper Gets 37-Pound ‘Cat

Kevin Gallagher, of Dorrance Township, Penn., trapped a 37-pound, 40-inch long male bobcat last week in the White Haven area. It’s paws were more than 3 inches long and wide.

A story on the dedicated trapper’s pursuit of the big ‘cat appears in the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader Web site.

It might be the largest ‘cat ever trapped in the district, according to Wildlife Conservation Officer Dave Allen, who said he had been receiving reports of a mountain lion in the area. He speculated that some people might have mistaken the abnormally large bobcat for a mountain lion.
