VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
I would just like everyone to note that you should receive this newspaper and newsletter about the same time that our association is holding our Summer Trappers Rendezvous at Lake Eufaula. The event that Janice Johnson is setting up is our third time that we are holding this summer time campout and fun event. The location is the Gentry Creek Campground, 8 miles west of Checotah on SH-266.
The events start on Friday evening with tent / camper setup and a hot-dog and chili cook out around 6 PM. Please bring your guitars and other musical instruments for the evening campfire.
Saturday morning coffee and doughnuts at 8ish and then demos start at 9 AM and run throughout the day. Lunch will be at 2 PM with deer and hog on the smoker and Dutch oven desserts. Please try to bring a side dish to go along with the smoked meats. There will be several demos going on during the day along with volleyball games, horseshoes, dominoes, fishing, swimming and anything else that we come up with for the day. There will be leftovers for supper along with another campfire for the evening.
Sunday morning will be a quiet morning to enjoy company and packup. Please feel free to bring traps for demos, boats for the water, fishing rods or swim suit for the noodlers, side dishes for the meals and lots of friends, kids, and friends kids.
Hope to see you all there. — Shannon Sheffert
DISTRICT 4 REPORT
Unfortunately the district meeting in April was not attended by very many people. Cody Presley sent out over a Hundred invitations and we had only 12 people show. I had a very good time, had some wonderful smoked wild pork,(provided by the land owner) and lots of other great food. Although the attendance was low the fellowship was great. B.J. Johnson showed how to remove the caster and oil sacs from Beaver. B.J. and I started skinning a beaver and Cody Skinned most of it. All seemed to have a good time. — Leo Farmer
