PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello fellow NC trappers, I hope that this letter finds you doing well. We are well into our season now and it’s my hope that your sheds are full of prime skins or they are already on route to NAFA for their first auction. February is crunch time for the trapper. Time is flying by and there seems to be an urgency in the air to get things done. There is always another spot that we want to set or a few more critters that we want to catch.

February is also time for me to think of fund raising for the NCTA. The Dixie Deer Classic is our first event of the year and it is one of my favorites. I get the chance to talk to old friends and meet new ones and talk to folks about trapping. This years DDC will be Feb. 28, March 1 & 2. We will again set up a booth and start our annual raffle. This year, we will have a Mossberg 835 12 ga. 3 1/2” chamber in camo a combo youth gun featuring a 20 ga. and a .243 cal. rifle barrel and a m-80 creek boat. I hope to see you there.

As we start the transition into spring, let me remind you that we will again be putting on our trapper’s education courses around the state throughout the spring and summer months. You can check for dates and locations starting in April on our website as well as the NCWRC website. Our one day courses are free and we provide lunch. Our 3 day advanced course is $300 and this includes your lodging and meals. This course will include running a real trap line.

That’s about all that I have to talk about right now. I do hope that you have shared your time in the outdoors this season with friends and family . Good times spent with those close to you make for great memories. — Tony W. White
