VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Sorry to be so long since there was a report from me. There has been a lot going on in my life. The directors have given a lot of thought to the January fur sale, and in light of the current situation with the fur market, it was decided to cancel the early sale. Over the years, the amount of fur sold in January has fallen off quite a bit.
The good part of that sale was the trappers could get rid of their early fur and hold the prime winter pelts untill March. Unfortuionatly the way the economy is today it will not matter that much when the fur is caught. A few pennies one way or the other is not going to matter. Perhaps when the market comes back we can start the early sale again.Until then we will just have the one sale.
I just heard recently that George Soriano, the man who stepped into the president’s job ,when the NJTA split and the NJ Furharvesters were formed, died recently. George was a solid rock when we needed someone to step up and take control. I had spoken to him a few months ago, and knew he was not well, but I guess it was worse than he let on. We will miss him. And our prayers go out to his family.
Remember our annual convention will be Sunday Oct. 4. As always at Space Farms. Bring the family, the zoo and museum will be open. That is always worth the ride. We will have more in the next issue.
That is enough for today, I will be leaving for the N.T.A. convention tomorrow. I hope you are all well, and I hope to see you soon.
