PRESIDENT’S REPORT
NJFH Members,
Once again, we had a nice time at Vicky and Steve Decker’s house for the Summer BBQ. The food was great and there were good stories that were heard (especially from Fred). Thanks again to the Decker’s for their hospitality and great company!
The meeting was a very good one, taking care of a lot of business and more members taking on more responsibility, which is what the NJFH needs right now. Andy Janson is working on a Web site for the NJFH and I’m sure it is going to be a good one. Fred got the NJFH an advertisement for the NJ hunting digest asking people to check out our Web site to get more information about trapping in NJ and the NJFH. I’m sure it will all work out great in the end!
Also, at the meeting, we talked about the convention (Sunday, Nov. 1) and it should be a good one. Steve once again is going to get a stretcher board made up, but this year it is a nice picture of some raccoon by a stream. I’m sure it will be another nice board to be raffled off at the convention.
We are also working on having a September meeting in the central part of the state and all will be notified by mail about the meeting if it is held.
I attended the NTA Convention in Lima, Ohio and had a great time! I went with Rick, Butchy and Jeffery Kern, which made the trip even better. I was surprised to see so many trappers from NJ attending the convention. I know I always enjoy talking to some of the trappers I haven’t seen in a while.
Fred attended the NTA meetings and he said he would have a report for the Fall newsletter with the information he received. I was set up next to Steve and Fred so we all had a bunch of laughs and just a good time. The people in Ohio really know how to put on a great convention and I would like to thank them for all their hard work!
The Decoy show in Tuckerton will be on Sept. 26-27 and the NJFH will have a booth set up once again. We can always use more help so give me a call if you can help man the booth. It’s always a bunch of fun and we do a lot of talking to a lot of people.
They changed the date of the Sportsmen Jamboree in Millville to Oct. 3-4 and it looks like we won’t be able to attend the show. I will be on vacation and that is the same week end as the NJTA convention at Space Farms so many of the trappers will be attending that.
I hope I didn’t forget anything, but I’m still recovering from the NTA convention and it’s back to work tomorrow!
