PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hi everyone, I hope all is well as we are approaching our busy time of the year as an organization. As you read this, we will have already had our summertime meeting and BBQ. As I write this, it is only 2 days away and we really have a good list or RSVP’s going. It should be a good turnout.
September — let’s start there. We (NJFH) have a full plate this month .We will be having our usual four Trappers Ed classes, and I know that the state wants to add a few more to keep the size of the classes down and be able to accommodate all who apply. As you know, we had 74 in the spring class! Believe me, that was a lot of people, but it went very smooth. If anyone would like to help out at these classes, please give me a call. It is not hard and a lot of fun. In the spring class, we had the five main instructors and a few helpers who are going to be instructors as long as they keep hanging around … LOL. But all joking aside, it is a lot of fun, and more help makes things go easier.
We are also going to have the booth set up at the Tuckerton Decoy and Gunning show again this year. I think it is in the later part of the month, so keep an eye out for the newsletter in September on the times and dates cause we always have a meeting their on the Saturday of the show at 3 p.m. at the booth. Volunteers are also welcome to man the booth! Don’t be shy. We will also be having discussions about our convention. If you have any ideas that you would like to see happen, please let the officers know. This is your organization and your input is a must!
As you are reading this and you realize that the convention and season are right around the corner (and when you’re going through your stuff), don’t forget to put things on the side for the convention auction. All donations are welcome. Please check your membership expiration date. I know the storm last year really put a spin on things last October, but some of you let your membership lapse. If you know someone who traps or used to be a member and isn’t one now, try to tell them how important it is to be a member of a statewide organization like this that is looking out for your best interests as fur harvesters for the good of our sport.
Don’t forget to get a kid involved in trapping and keep an eye on our website, njfurharvesters.org. And go to our Facebook page! Thanks. — Ron
SECRETARY’S REPORT
Hello all,
NJFH has just wrapped up the annual BBQ, and it was great. Thanks to Dan and Tina for hosting. Everyone get ready the new Trapper Ed classes are starting in October and everyone is anticipating a good year. Our annual convention is on November 3rd at Atsion. We will start early and it promises to be a good time. I think we have some civil war re-enactors coming as well as top professionals from our area giving excellent snare demos and information. Please look at the F&G digest this year. There were some changes made that you should be aware of. Take care and have a great September. — Andy
