PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello to all, Lets get right into it. We had a good trappers Ed class in the southern part of the state, 36 students. The next weekend was the Tuckerton decoy and gunning show, we had a great 2 days lots of people to talk to about trapping and we also sold a bit of fur. I would like to thank Curt, Dan, Steve and Andy for coming to man the booth it was a fun time.
This weekend (Oct 2nd) Steve Decker, Fred Stine, Dan Wolf, and my self will be up at camp Gaw in North Jersey to teach the Boy scouts a little about what we do. Maybe we can spark the fire for some future trappers. Then on Sunday most of us will be at space farms for the New Jersey Trappers convention. After that comes the central trappers Ed class on Thursday Oct 21 & 24 in the sportsmen’s center Bordentown and the northern class on Oct 23-24, which looks like another two full classes.
We can’t forget our convention which will be on Nov 7th, same place as last time. Ed Mc Cay has the permit all taken care of, I know there are vendors coming and some demos to be seen; I do need some one (or many) who would like to do a skinning demo? Or maybe you have something to show other people that would help them at trapping, just let me know. I am sure we can squeeze you in. We always have a good time and always make the best of any situation. (Were trappers we always do)
Now I would like to take a moment to congratulate our very own FTA Director and friend, Joe Papi on receiving the Fur Takers of America Hall of Fame Award! It is a great Honor to receive this, for being recognized as some one who has contributed so much to the trapping industry, on a state as well as a national level. So when you see him let him know.
Don’t forget we have a website, so check it out. We could also put your trap line pictures on the site, so take a camera out on the line with you as well as some one who doesn’t trap and introduce our sport to some one new. If you have any questions or comments feel free to call or send me an email.
