REPORT

The NH Trappers Association did not meet for the month of July this year.

The NHTA Annual Fall meeting will be held this year in a one-day event. Saturday September 20st, 2014 at the Owl Brook Hunter/Trapper Education Center in Holderness, NH. Again this year there will be activities for kids, vendors offering gear and goods, and trapping and fur handling demonstrations for all patrons. Check us out on line at www.nhtassoc.org.

We always need plenty of volunteers to assist with running the event from setting up and folding tables, chairs and with the meal. Please contact a director to volunteer. And we will be looking for donated items for our country auction. Thank you! The gun raffle tickets have been circulated to directors, so ask around to grab a few. There are only 1,500 tickets for sale for a chance at ten guns.

The directors have been discussing the fur jackets that we donate annually to the newly crowned Miss NH. We have struggled the last few years to gather enough donations of fisher hides to meet our goal. We cannot continue to make a jacket each year with so few donations. This year we are researching a gray fox stroller. Please keep the association in mind this fall when you make plans to trap. We are still on the fence so stay tuned. Thank you.

I hope you all find some time this summer to scout some new areas to trap and make some new landowner friends. Don’t forget to tune and treat those traps before daylight shortens! — Paul DeBow, Grafton County Director
