VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Three important items for this month’s report.

First, the Nevada Wildlife Commission has set the bobcat and gray fox season to begin November 1, 2011 and continue through February 29, 2012. This was the season recommended by NVTA and it was unanimously accepted by the Commission. A special thanks is due to all those who attended County Advisory Board meetings and provided input, and particularly to Joel Blakeslee for working behind the scenes on this one. When you are out trapping this fall, you might want to pause a minute and give thanks to those who worked hard to get the traditional season restored.

Second, our Rendezvous was a huge success. John Tibbetts and crew did a great job again this year and we appreciate their time, effort and assistance in putting together a wonderful event. Judi Curran entertained all the kids with Smoorze, games, activities and prizes for everyone. The demos were well done. I was particularly impressed with the demo done by Billy Taylor and Joe Bennett of Wildlife Services. Here are two guys who don’t have anything to sell, and yet they come every year and help with the Rondy. Thanks guys!

Third, on September 24 will be our Trapper Education Day. This event will be in the same location as last year, on the Lee Canyon Road near Mt. Charleston. Please come and attend.

— Tracy Truman
