PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Hello Everyone,

Everyone should have received a book of raffle tickets and a preliminary flyer and schedule for our 2010 Fall Convention. Sell the tickets – the proceeds help to defray the costs of our convention.

It appears Doug and Cindy have come up with some new and interesting activities for our convention along with our standbys in a first rate facility right along I-80. On that note, we still need someone wanting to host the 2011 Fall Convention.

Again, the top two ticket salesmen will get a free T-shirt and 1 year membership.

— Don Miller

FTA DELEGATE’S REPORT

Greetings from Amherst! I apologize for having not made submissions in the last few issues of this publication. As many of you know I have had back problems for the past decade. This past winter was rather rough due to the issue. I have missed extensive periods of work so at the end of March my doctor said that was it.

The easiest way to put it is I am now medically retired.

Regretfully due to a series of Epidural shots and physical therapy sessions I was not able to attend the NFH spring meeting or the FTA National Rendezvous in Indiana. I thank Dave Hastings for representing the NFH this year. I have reviewed the FTA meeting minuets and can say our association is representing fur harvesters in every way. They are active with the BMP process, furbearer workshops and law suits across the country. The FTA has actively represented the restraining device manufactures to the BMP committee. With the structure of the testing and recommendations made the manufactures had no say in the process.

The FTA Governing Board has voted to once again sponsor segments supporting trapping on the Out Door Channel. This is a very expensive project but one would look far to find a more diverse group of viewers.

I would like to congratulate Gene Purdy from Iowa as the new FTA Governing Board Chairman. Gene has a vast communication base within the Fur harvesting sector and will be an asset to the FTA.

I am excited about this falls NFH Convention in Lexington. Doug and his family along with their crew are going all out to host one grand event. Each member recently received flyers to post publicly.

Post them and be certain to mail or bring your sweepstakes tickets to the convention. This is the major fund raiser for the NFH. I realize everyone’s budget is strained but without the funding our state association would not be able to be there when issues surface.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Lexington!

— Roy Greenfield
