PRESIDENT’S REPORT
We just got back from the Fur Taker’s in Columbus, IN. I always appreciate getting to see folks from across the country that I only get once a year or so. The guys in Indiana always have a nice FTA convention.
The weather always seems to have an affect on the convention, but the kids and some grown ups really looked like they were having good fun in the foot deep water at the end of the Street. I hope someone got pictures.
I look forward to the Board of Directors meeting July 17th at Boonville. We have several issues to discuss. Our Fall Rendezvous is scheduled for September 17-19th at Linn Creek at the Missouri Trapshooters Association facility. If you need booth space, contact Vice President Robbie Page or District 6 director Dale Verts.
Next stop, Wisconsin in August.
I need to add that Bill Prouhet passed away June 22nd. Bill was a fur buyer and truck farmer. Many from the St. Louis area have known Prouhet Farms for years. He was a charter member of the Missouri Trapper’s Association and a past officer. He bought a lot of fur over the years at the Missouri Trapper’s Auction. He was proud of his induction in the Hall of Fame, and his plaque was proudly displayed at the visitation. He will be missed.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello everyone,
Boy, it’s been a wet spring and summer so far. Living near the Missouri River, there has been water everywhere for a long, long time. The local farmers have lost their corn crops. Some have replanted and lost that too. Pumps have have been running almost non stop all spring long to help control all of the flooding. Unfortunately this has been rough for the farmers, but has been good for us trappers. All of the places Rick and I trapped beaver last season in the river bottoms are now all repopulated with beaver again.
Don’t forget to book your reservations now if you need a hotel at the MTA Fall Rendezvous. This years fall rendezvous will be September 17, 18, and 19th, 2010 in Linn Creek. The event will be held at the Missouri Trapshooters Associations grounds. Linn Creek is located between Osage Beach and Camdenton on Highway 54. Turn east on county road A and the grounds are on the left about 4 or 5 miles down. Our host motel will be the Super 8 Motel at 5927 Highway 54, in Osage Beach. It is located about 4 miles north of county road A on Highway 54. There is going to be another major event that same weekend in that area. The other event will be the Bikefest where there will be a lot of motorcyclist and all the other hotels are already booking for this at this time. I was able to reserve 30 rooms for that weekend at the Super 8. The price will be $69.99 plus tax per night. If you need to cancel, they will need a 30 day notice. So, BE SURE TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS TODAY BEFORE THE 30 ROOMS RUN OUT. The phone number to the Super 8 Motel is (573)-348-4773. Be sure to tell them that you are with the Missouri Trappers Association to get that discounted rate.
I don’t have a whole lot to report since the last issue of the TPC. Dale Verts with District #6 and I are having a meeting in Versailles on July 8th to put together the fall rendezvous schedule of events so that we will have it all finalized by the summer meeting on July 17th and get all of the details on the website. The summer meeting will be in Billingsville at the church. Billingsville is approximately 3 miles south of Boonville on Highway 5. That is about all I have for now. I look forward to seeing you all at the summer meeting.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Hi everyone,
Hope you all are having a good summer. The heat here has been really bad. We have been working in the yard & the garden a little at a time. Have been eating tomatoes since the 12th of June. Sure are good.
We went to the FTA convention in Indiana and had a good time. It rained a lot though, got to visit with some old friends and also made some new ones. My hat is off to the folks who put on the convention. You did a good job.
We are planning on going to the NTA in Marshfield, WI in August. Hope to see you there. We want to see some of the sites out there before the convention and rest awhile.
Well till next time. Be safe!
God Bless.

DISTRICT 6 REPORT
It’s been an interesting past two months for me! As many of ya’ll know, I suffered a stroke on May 3rd. Luckily for me it was a minor deal- call it a “warning shot” that got my attention, and one that I have heeded well. Except for my right hand being “stupid” (it’s like it’s somebody elses hand when I try to write) I have sustained a full recovery. I’ve also been extremely humbled by the toughts and concerns of the trappers of this state, not to mention those that live as far away as far away as Pennsylvania. I’ll never be able to express the thanks and appreciation that my Candi and I have for all of you that have obviously been thinking of us. God Bless you all.
Not to get boring and start preaching, but I’m going to. Folks, up to and including the time of my stroke I felt FINE. I know you hear this all the time, but I had almost zero warning that my blood pressure was 239 over 120. Looking back I see that there were some minor signs, but nothing that even came close to causing concern. I will beg of all of you- if you haven’t been to the doc of late, GO. I think sometimes that we fear bad news with a visit to the physician, but any bad news you get probably won’t touch how serious the situation can get if you don’t get a check up once in a while. Do it, please.
Paul Webb and I worked the Stover Fair the first weekend in July and as always ity was a nice time being out visiting with the masses. We made a few new friends, sold some raffle tickets, and hopefully made a few converts as to what we are all about. Thanks for the help, Paul.
Well we’re getting close as far as the Fall Rendezvous is concerned. I’ll have a report to present at the summer board meeting, and by the time you read this we’ll have the maps to and of the grounds, plus the tentative schedule of events on the MTA website. The trick now is juggling everything to make it all fit. But I’ve got some pretty good “jugglers” who are helping out. A huge “thanks “ goes to them also- there’s no way one guy can run a show like this. Again I’d like to extend an invitation to anyone who wants to help to give me a holler. We also are still listening to any ideas on what you’d like to see at this years event. Call me!
Hope you all are having a great summer. Make that doctors appointment so you can see a bunch more of them. See you soon.
— Dale Verts
