DISTRICT 8 REPORT

Our first meeting of the season went well. We discussed our meeting location and whether to relocate to a more central location, but decided to stay where we are. We are treated so well there and everyone is happy.

Charles Campbell attended his first meeting and signed up as a member.

Roger’s minutes from the convention and directors meetings were read and talked over.

A MFT lifetime membership plaque was presented to James Elburn, Norman Fraley was not present to receive his. Our State Assoc. now has 100 life members. Way to go guys.

NTA cash calendars were offered to all attending.

Discussions centered on dates to remember for coming conventions in our area, fur buyers , fur prices and what each member has been up to since our last meeting.

The saving of fox glands was discussed and a lure maker has been contacted for instructions of his preferences.

The last trappers ed class for the year was announced for all to pass on to any interested new trappers.

Maryland trapper Ron Leggett was profiled in Gary Jebson’s “Trappers I have Know” column in the Fur Takers Magazine in the October issue. Ron has done and continues to do so much for trapping and trappers. A great article and well deserved. We all need to thank him as we see him.

Delaware has now become organized. Their new president is Scott Chambers and assist pres. is Robby Maxwell. Scott’s cell is 302-242-8658. Donald Moore brought us up to date on the Dalaware activities. Dist 8 and all MFTI wishes them well and complete assistance were ever we can help.

Business cards were available for the Delaware Fur Exchange.

Once again, the MFTI Convention for 2015 will have a new location at the Wash. Co Ag Center, three miles from the old place and a new time slot of Aug 7-8th.

Dist 8 will have our third annual pelt and cash donation at our December meeting as a fund raiser to compensate our hosts – the Calloways – for providing Dist 8 with a meeting place along with great snacks. Bob was also presented a federal duck stamp from Dist 8.

District 8 elections were held with the outcome of Roger Ringgold – Director and Treasurer, and Donald Moore as Assistant Director.

Dist 8 meets the fourth Tuesday during trapping season at the home of Robert Calloway., at 7:00 PM. Bob lives at 14313 Cherry Lane, near Tuckahoe State Park, between Centreville, Md and Ridgely, Md. Call Bob at 410-634-2501 for further directions.
