PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Our March fur sale is behind us and it was very successful. Prices reflected the low fur take of this season. Hopefully the market will continue to improve and will carry on through next trapping season.
I want to point out to all trappers in Idaho and any state who has endangered or threatened species that if you accidentally catch one of these animals, under the 10J rule you can be given a citation. We have an incident in Northern Idaho where a trapper caught a wolf in his bobcat set and has been cited and given a fine by the Federal Wildlife Enforcement Officer. It is going to court and we are waiting on the outcome. I will keep you posted on what happens and will go into more detail in the future.
We have set a date for our annual ITA convention on Aug. 14, 2010 in Fairfield, Idaho on private property. Signs with directions will be posted. There is primitive camping, no hook-ups and no water. We will have drinking water, plenty of coffee, ice tea and juice. We can fill water jugs close by. There is a stream running through the property with a beaver pond, an ideal location for demonstrations.
Your trapping organization will be providing breakfast and lunch on Saturday, everyone bring a side dish and/or garden vegetables for lunch. There is a motel close by in Fairfield and resort with cabins to rent if you choose to stay there rather than camp. Look for more information at a later date.
This year ITA would like to have a “special ladies” bake contest. Ladies, bring a couple dishes of your favorite recipes and invite aunts, nieces, mothers, daughters to help. Guys, if you would like to bring your Dutch ovens to demonstrate your skills and help with the feed please feel free to do so. Don’t forget to bring items for the raffles and auction that we will be conducting. This is for you, the members, and we will have a good time. There will be something for everyone including the kids.
I would like to congratulate the winners of the fur sale raffles. The quilt was won by Michelle, rifle won by James Sockrider, four wheeler won by Rusty Kramer and the pack basket won by Pam. A major point I would like toaddress is a job well done for Chuck Ceccarelli, Pat Carney, Steve Jewett and Billy Dyer who went far and beyond and sold a large quantity of four wheeler tickets at the fur sale. Great job guys!!!
We have had our first fur sale at the National Guard Armory in Mountain Home and it proved to be a very good facility. We plan on having all of our sales there in the future. The building cost us about half what the previous building cost. The armory has great lighting and slightly larger than the previous facility. Cats and rats were the top furs. Our rats averaged about $3 less than the average at the Canadian sale the same week.
Hope you can make it to the Western NTA Convention in Rock Springs, Wyoming (June 18-20 2010). I encourage all ITA members to join and support the National Trappers Association, we must be united on a national basis.

SECRETARY’S REPORT
We have concluded our fur sales for the year. Now it is time to plan for a summer convention and get started on next year’s fur sales. I would like to thank each and everyone of you who helped with the sales and the ITA booths.
We had several donations from individual businesses, and I would like to acknowledge Chuck Ceccarelli for his donation of a hitch from his business In the Ditch. It helped with the raffle tremendously. A BIG thank you to each of you.
Trappers you seen their business information and I hope you will return the gesture and support them. Our membership is steadily growing. Keep recruiting a friend or two.
