SECRETARY’S REPORT

Happy New Year to all! We are beginning the trapping season. Hope all is going well for you. I would like to remind everyone that our fur sales will be January 22 and March 19, 2011 in Mountain Home, Idaho. Any questions please contact your ITA Officers. Some more upcoming events is everyone needs to recruit a member and think of someone that could and would be a good candidate to run as an ITA officer. We are looking to fill the positions of president and three directors. Send your nominations to Michelle Gutierrez 3725 NE McCoy LN, Mountain Home, ID 83647.

March 3-6, 2011 the Sportsman show which is held in Boise is a great place for ITA to set a booth up and get our information out to the public. I ask for any and all volunteers to give me a call so that I could make up a working schedule to man the booth.

There are issues on the table that the ITA is working on. Some of you have heard of these and we ask that everyone GET INVOLVED!!!! One issue is the Owyhee Initiative (Travel Management Plan). The travel plan for Owyhee County is going to effect everyone in Idaho and surrounding states. For this is the blue print for future travel management plans. At present they are dealing with the road issues which will affect access to wilderness areas.

Second phase could potentially have severe affect to federal and private property access in Owyhee county that will be implemented a year or two later. If we do not have enough public input into this process, they could implement this in a county near you. As we have been informed of this in their travel management plan. Second issue is Fish and Game is always putting surveys out and other information. Please read those and participate. If everyone does not step up and do his/her part on fighting these issues, then we all be will looking for new hobbies.

It was brought to my attention that a long time member of the association has passed away, Rudy Eldelberg. His family has acknowledged he was an avid trapper and loved the outdoors. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Rudy and his knowledge of trapping will be missed. God Bless. Thank you.
