FUR AUCTION MANAGER’S REPORT

We pulled off a very good auction in February. I think sellers should be quite impressed with the averages we posted. They are right in line or better than surrounding states and the international auction houses. Here are a few highlights of the averages: Coyote $18.46, Bobcat (western) $198, Bobcat (eastern) $60, Raccoon $14.54, Red Fox $15.62, Beaver $18.09, Skunk $7.85. If you would like to see full results with Highs, Lows and Averages, give me a mailing address or look at coloradotrapper.com. If you didn’t have your fur there this year, I hope you strongly consider it for next year. We’ve proven that we can compete in this market.

For the auction next year, we can always use additional hands. Long-time computer operator Debbie Watts has asked that next year be her last. I would like to find a willing person to train with her next year with the intention of taking it over after that. This is one of the few paid positions in the CTA if that helps to entice you into saying yes. I would also like to find consignment agents to hustle up fur in Kansas, Wyoming and Nebraska. If you would like to help us out by consigning fur or know someone who may be interested, please let me know. Typical dates are receiving the first weekend in February and sale the following Thursday and Friday.

If you haven’t looked at the Web site lately, I encourage you to do so. It was recently updated with a new color scheme and current information. Many thanks to Stephen Barrington for the work he has put into it.
