SECRETARY’S REPORT
Winter Membership Meeting, February 6, 2011
President Otis Latham called the February 6, 2011, CTA Membership Meeting to order at 11:50 a.m., at the Lincoln County Events Building, Hugo, CO. A quorum was not present.
The minutes of the September 5, 2010, Annual Meeting were approved as read. Secretary-treasurer Oleyar distributed financial reports of the General Fund, Fur Auction Fund, Raffle Fund, Stock Show Booth Fund, and the investment funds, as well as a current list of members.
President Latham reported that the CTA was not invited to any stakeholders meetings regarding wolverine introduction to the state, nor was the matter brought up at the Sportsmens’ Advisory Group meeting. This issue may be handled by the legislature. The CDOW may press for de-listing of otter. He thanked those responsible for setting up for the fur auction. A letter from Daniel Hasart, a 2010 scholarship recipient to the NRA Whittington Center, was read. Latham plans to attend the NTA Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, NV. He will check on insurance coverage for fur auction items and Rendezvous contests using firearms.
The secretary-treasurer reported membership has increased to 210, compared to 190 a year ago. A signed book by Texas trapper and biologist Frank Turkowski, is available to be used as a door prize. The secretary has order forms for the book.
NE Director and National Western Stock Show Booth Manager Don Clifford said the stock show was a great success and the booth brought in $500 to $1,000 more than last year. He is making arrangements for our 2011 Rendezvous in Muir Springs near Fort Morgan.
Metro Director Gary Crawford will have some tickets to give away for Greeley Stampede PRC rodeo performances, June 24 – July 4. Contact him at 303-940-7518 for a free ticket or two! The CTA receives these tickets as a thank you for supporting Miss Rodeo Colorado by providing a fur coat each year.
Wildlife Commission Liaison Opal Watts related that Tom Remington, Director of the Colorado Division of Wildlife, was speechless when she presented him with the CTA Wildlife Professional of the Year award plaque.
Fur Auction Manager Greg Ashmore has reserved the Lincoln County Events Building for the 2012 Fur Auction. The computer program was well worth the cost.
Historian Marv Miller will be meeting with Hershel Brewer to get some pictures from him for the CTA archives. Also, the manager of the Gander Mountain stores in the Denver area asked about the CTA presenting a seminar on skinning, trapping, etc. in November at one of the Gander Mountain stores. The matter will be addressed again at the Rendezvous Annual Meeting.
Unfinished business: The furbearer season change we requested was put aside by the CDOW in anticipation that the legislature will focus on a new bear regulation.
The meeting adjourned at 1 p.m.

FUR AUCTION MANAGER’S REPORT
Well another auction has come and gone and it seemed to have gone pretty well. We had more fur offered for sale this year than each year’s sale in the last five years. I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped the first weekend, through the week and on the two sale days. Without this help this auction could not be as good as it is. I would also like to thank all of the sellers and buyers who participate each year.
The fur prices at the time of our sale seemed to be off a little from last year. One of the few exceptions was bobcats that were up $20 on average from last year. The clear heavier bobcats (typically bobcats West of I-25) ranged from $300 to a top of $610. The Eastern flatter bobcats ranged from $35 to $300. Coyotes are broken down more in the list of the sale below. Once again THANKS!!! I look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s auction.
