PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello there trappers,
Here I go again with some more words, some that are good and some that could be good I only hope. A good story came out in a mag the other day about hunting here in this state. Like should we reconsider hunting mountain lions. There are more and more seen in places that they never have been seen before. Studies show there are more lions in this state than the states all around us. The cats are walking down city streets and in city parks. They don’t run when you scare them. I don’t like the thought of someone getting mauled or bitten, but it is going to happen. Some people that live 20 floors up and see dirt only once a year don’t see a thing wrong with it. Now I don’t mind seeing one or two a year, but I spend about 365 days outside camping, hunting, fishing and just being out there. Almost every morning just going out to my garden I chase deer, skunks, ’coons and other wildlife out. Well, I guess it is my fault as this time of year it is the only green around.
As of right now, I have not heard how the meeting down in San Diego went. I can almost guess though. I think most of the commissioners had their minds made up before the meeting. A lot of common sense is not there.
Hunting season is just around the corner and most of us will be out there. As you hunt for deer, keep a sharp eye out for tracks for this coming trapping season. Make your eyes and mind work. They will do you a lot of good.
It’s getting late. I gotta go for now — John Clark
