PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Howdy, y’all, Summer is in full swing, hot, dry and all. Weird weather has been the norm; I don’t know if it’s why, but ‘coon kits vary by four months this year: Teenagers and “just-borns” in the same day. I always wonder at that: Not too unusual, but still unusual.
Alan Merrifield of Urban Wildlife Management has retired after 30 years in the field. A certified wildlife control professional, Alan is the man: He was (and is) the only reason we can, as wildlife controllers, do pigeon work on and around buildings. The Structural Pest Control Board, an arcane and protectionist guild, had the laws bent to monopolize this lucrative field. Alan fought a long and lonely battle for our right to bid on such work, and all who perform it (and their happy clients) should thank him. He is working on regulatory changes that should improve the competence of pest controllers entering the trapping community. Best of luck and success in this endeavor.

REPORT
The California Trappers Association held their rendezvous in April at the Bear Mountain Men’s grounds in Bella Vista, Calif. The weather was very nice. We had a good attendance. I would like to thank everyone for their donations to the Lawsuit Fund. We had a fellow trapper come for the first time. Lots of good stories and lots of animals caught over the campfire. As always the food was good. Tri Tip was served with all the good salads, veggies and bakery goodies.
We will be holding the Rendezvous again in April 2011 at the same sight. It is a very lovely spot. We have a running creek below the campground. Back off the road so lots of privacy. The lawsuit fund is coming along very well. It has taken longer than we expected to get to court, but we are getting closer every day.
