SECRETARY/TREASURER’S REPORT

Could have used some ear plugs at the Waterfowl Festival in Siloam Springs last month. Every kid there must have had a duck call and wasn’t afraid to use it. The International Christian Waterfowlers Association were the sponsors, and besides our trapping booth, there was DU, NRA, USSA, Cabela’s, call manufacturers, taxidermists, predator callers, pro hunting seminars and more. Must have been four or five hundred people pass thru the gates and at least 200 at the dinner Saturday night. Steve “Wildman” Wilson was the emcee for the BBQ dinner where the ICWA raffled off 11 guns and a Cabelas Sportsmans Package, and had an auction for calls, hunting equipment and guided hunts. Chuck Atkinson was the featured speaker at the dinner. We met a lot of old and new trappers at our booth and signed up a few new members. We donated a cage trap to the silent auction. Thanks go out to ICWA for allowing us to attend.

Not as much traffic as the waterfowl festival but we did have lots of visitors and interest at our booth at the Fort Smith Gun Show in the Holiday Inn last month. Signed up some kids for our trappers workshop, talked with old trappers and met some that are just getting started. Good to see everyone out supporting the 2A/RKBA. Thanks go out to Tim Garrett for inviting us to attend.

There are groups of trappers looking to organize chapters in the Chester, AR area and also in Rogers, AR area. If you’re near those areas and are interested in being a part of an AFT chapter, contact an officer/director and they’ll put you in touch with the right persons. Or, log in to our Facebook group and get your info there. Same goes for starting your own chapter anywhere in Arkansas, contact an officer/director and we’ll get you started.

We plan to have a booth at Cabela’s in Rogers, AR on Oct 5th. That Saturday is Ladies Day Out at Cabela’s, and US Sportsmans Alliance will be there too with different outdoors stations for the ladies to participate in. The first 100 women to check in at the retail store on Saturday will receive a commemorative gift, and all women can enjoy the shopping discounts and refreshments.

The AFT website has been updated with pictures of our trade show display booth and pictures of the hats that we are selling as a fundraiser. Hats are $15 each shipped anywhere in the US. — Mark Alexander
